Review Guidelines — NIL Attorney Directory
The NIL Attorney Directory exists to help student-athletes, families, and other clients make informed decisions by sharing honest, respectful, and helpful feedback about their experiences with NIL-focused attorneys.
To keep reviews credible and useful, we ask all users to follow these guidelines:
1. Be Honest and Accurate
Share your actual experience working with the attorney — the good, the bad, or somewhere in between.
Avoid exaggerating, making false claims, or posting second-hand stories you can’t verify.
2. Keep it Respectful
Critique services and professionalism — not personal characteristics like race, gender, religion, or appearance.
No profanity, hate speech, or personal attacks.
3. Be Specific
Details make reviews far more useful. Consider including:
How responsive was the attorney?
Were fees, billing, and engagement terms clear?
Did they explain contracts in plain language?
Did they provide NIL-specific legal advice, such as compliance guidance or contract negotiation?
4. No Conflicts of Interest
Do not post reviews for your own practice or on behalf of a competitor.
Friends, family, and business partners of the attorney should not submit reviews unless they were also a paying client.
5. Stick to Your Experience
Avoid making claims about legal or ethical violations unless they are a matter of public record.
If you have a serious complaint (fraud, misconduct), use our Report a Concern form so we can handle it appropriately.
6. Star Ratings Explained
We use a 1–5 star scale:
5 stars: Excellent — went above and beyond expectations.
4 stars: Good — met expectations with only minor issues.
3 stars: Average — acceptable, but left room for improvement.
2 stars: Poor — fell short in key areas.
1 star: Very poor — would not recommend.
7. Verification
We may request proof that you worked with the attorney (such as engagement letters, invoices, or relevant communication records).
Reviews that cannot be verified may be removed.
8. Edits and Removal
You may edit or remove your review at any time by contacting info@NILAttorneyDirectory.com.
We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate these guidelines.
9. Attorney Responses
Attorneys can reply publicly to reviews to address concerns, clarify details, or thank clients.
Replies should remain professional — this is an opportunity to build trust and credibility.
10. Compare Multiple NIL Attorneys
Our directory allows you to compare attorneys side-by-side.
Use the Compare feature to see reviews, ratings, specialties, fees, and services at a glance.
Comparing multiple attorneys before making a decision can help you find the best legal partner for your needs.
11. Our Goal
We believe in transparency. Honest reviews — positive or negative — help student-athletes and families choose the right legal professional, and encourage attorneys to maintain the highest level of service.
